A Word to the Church

For the next several weeks, I will be preaching on the letters addressed to the churches in chapters 2-3 of revelation.  As part of John’s vision, Jesus gave him certain words to give directly to the church at that time and they are still important for us to hear today.  Sometimes Revelation can be a bit confusing and hard to understand, but I believe that these letters are more straight forward.

Each of the letters gives a commendation (something good), a condemnation (something they need to work on), a challenge, and council.  They also each end with the word ‘He who has ears let him hear what the spirit says to the churches”.  Each of these things is so important for churches today to hear because it is as we listen to what the Spirit of God is telling us, that we can grow and move to where God needs us to be instead of where we think we want to be.  We are also able to hear from God the good, bad and ugly about what we are doing and where we are going.

I would encourage you to read these two chapters, it doesn’t take long, and then listen to what God is telling the church of that time and what He is telling th chruch of today and your church specifically.

Let me know what you think.
